Abstract

In this presentation, we will explore the transformative impact of generative AI in healthcare, focusing on its role in enhancing diagnostic precision, accelerating medical decision-making, and improving patient care. Drawing from our experiences at Changhua Christian Hospital, we will discuss AI applications in medical imaging, where it enhances diagnostic accuracy, pathology, where it identifies Lymphovascular invasion (LVI) patterns, and vocal cord anomaly management, where it provides innovative diagnostic and treatment solutions.

We will highlight our use of open-source large language models in a locally deployed system to develop applications like the weekly summary note, which automates the generation of concise and accurate patient record summaries, improving documentation efficiency and accuracy.

Additionally, we will discuss AI integration into clinical workflows, including optimizing ventilator weaning support and an early warning system for urinary tract infection in hospitalization, where AI offers data-driven insights that improve patient outcomes. We will address the challenges encountered during AI integration, such as data quality, workflow integration, and clinician adoption, and share our strategies for overcoming these hurdles. By the end of this talk, attendees will gain a clear understanding of how generative AI, especially through locally deployed open-source models, is revolutionizing healthcare, leading to more efficient, precise, and patient-centered care.
